A: That is a very personal decision and we always say you should make a gift that is meaningful to you, in both the size of gift and its intent. The average gift to SJA is $550 with gifts ranging from $5 to $50,000. With more than 98% of SJA's student body relying on financial support to attend, know that a gift of any size makes a significant impact. A number that we share with donors often is the "tuition gap" - the difference between the true cost to educate per student and what SJA receives in tuition payment. For 2016-17 that number is $7,500 per student. We must raise that amount PER student this year.
If you are in a position to give a significant amount, we hope that you will consider becoming a member of the Sr. Monica Fumo Society (gifts of $1,000 or more).
A: Yes! We can work with you to develop a payment schedule that allows you to complete payment of your gift by June 30 (when our fiscal year ends). We will send you reminders at scheduled times and you will have until June 30 to pay your gift in full. Once your pledge is received you will not be sent additional solicitations.
If you are on a long-term pledge per a gift agreement, we will work with you to identify due dates for pledge payments that may extend beyond the June 30 fiscal year end.
A: Yes! You can set up monthly, quarterly or bi-annual payments that can be debited from a checking or savings account or charged to your credit card. These gifts can be a pre-determined amount that continue until you provide notice to stop or they can be set up to pay off a pledge made.

A: Yes! Gifts of ANY size are important and help to make a life-changing impact in the lives of our students. Collectively, gifts of all size add up to ensure SJA can meet our yearly fundraising goals, keeping an SJA education affordable for all those who seek it.
The number of donors is also important. Donor participation rates are important indicators of the confidence our constituents have in us. They demonstrate to grant-making foundations and corporations that that there is broad support for our mission and goals.
A: Yes! All contributions to St. Joan Antida High School are tax-deductible according to IRS guidelines. If donating for a special event (Auction), your invoice and final acknowledgment letter will indicate the total tax-deducible portion of your gift.
As always, we recommend consulting your financial or tax advisor for details and tax-deductible limits.
A: Yes. You may choose to make your gift anonymously. When you send in your contribution (or make online), be sure to let us know that you would like to be anonymous and we will be happy to honor your request. The gift will be listed as anonymous in our annual report and on any other gift listings (or signage if giving for a special event).
A: Donors receive the full value of their gift made plus the completed match.
Example: A donor gives SJA a $1,000 gift to the General Operating Fund and his/her company matches the gift with another $1,000. The donor is recognized for the total $2,000 donated in their donor file and our annual report.
A: For in-kind gifts made, we ask that our in-kind donation form is completed for these donations. The donor determines the gift values through appraisal, record of purchase or billing statement. We will send an acknowledgement letter indicating the reported value. That value will also be added to your donor record as a soft credit.
A: Some companies will match gifts made by employees (or their spouse) to non-profit organizations such as SJA. Many companies do not readily advertise their matching gift program so please ask your company’s Human Resources Administrator. If your company has a matching gift program, you will receive a form to send along with your donation to SJA and we will complete and mail the form. If making a gift online, be sure to indicate in the notes box that it will be a matched gift so we can anticipate the form being sent.
Yes, there typically is a max on matches (both for dollar value of individual gifts made and total matches granted yearly for the company). The max amount varies by employee and by company. Some companies have both a max locally (locations in the City the employee resides) and in total for all of their employees, nationwide. Please refer to your company’s Human Resources department for information on the maximum totals for their matching gifts program.
A: Making a provision for SJA in your will helps ensure that the school will be financially strong for generations to come. You can set up a bequest to deliver a specific dollar amount or asset to SJA or it can give the school a percentage of the balance remaining in your estate after taxes and specific bequests have been paid.
