Why does attendance matter?

It's simple: Students learn better when they're regularly in school. The National Center for Educational Statistics said that student attendance is the second biggest indicator of student success behind teacher effectiveness and that chronic absenteeism even as young as kindergarten can impact a child's ability to graduate.
