Joel Cencius, CFRE
Senior Director of Development
Joel Cencius is an experienced fundraiser whose professional background includes more than eleven years in non-profit fund development and organizational management. In his role prior to St. Joan Antida High School, Cencius served as the Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving at Cardinal Stritch University where he directly managed all alumni engagement and communication initiatives in addition to overseeing the University’s annual giving program. Prior to his role at Stritch, Cencius was the Director of Visitor Services for the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum in Milwaukee where he managed all day-to-day operations including overseeing the visitor services department, facility upkeep and maintenance, and all aspects of the Museum’s retail operations.
Cencius is an active volunteer within the Milwaukee community, serving many organizations including: the Arthritis Foundation, Make-a-Wish of Wisconsin, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin and is a board member for the Washington High School Scholarship Foundation.
Cencius received a B.A. in communication arts with a minor in business from Cardinal Stritch University in 2006. He received his Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification in 2017.
Favorite high school memory: "Graduation (at what was then called the U.S. Cellular Arena) and getting to serve as MC and give the Valedictorian address."
