Dear SJA Family,
The arrival of spring is always a wonderful time! It is a time to celebrate all that was accomplished during the winter months and to look forward to new, exciting things coming to life. As we round the corner into spring, I am struck by all that has already been done in SJA Student Life this year. I had the wonderful opportunity to serve as a chaperone for a new Campus Ministry event this year: the Casa Romero “Roots and Wings” Spiritual Retreat for graduating seniors. A small group of our seniors shared this experience with seniors from Carmen High School. Over two days, they explored the roots of their own value systems and created plans for how they will maintain those values when they head off to college in the fall. I was honored to be able to join them in this experience as it has been so wonderful to watch them grow from shy freshwomen into articulate young women heading off to college.
I am equally excited by all that awaits us in the spring season at events such as Cultures Day, Prom, and Graduation. I am also thrilled to announce that at the end of April the SJA Walk-A-Thon is returning! This long-standing tradition has always been a great way to build school community, show Jaguar pride, and raise a little money to help the students of SJA. For those who have been around SJA for awhile, you know the fun and camaraderie of this day. We would love to have volunteer help in the preparation of this event.
I encourage you to continue to check our website and Facebook/Twitter pages for updates on all of our exciting student life events this spring. Always feel free to contact me if you have an interest in giving your time and talent to these events - we love your new ideas and energy!
