The Admissions Process

We are excited that you are considering St. Joan Antida High School, Milwaukee’s only all-girl International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.

Below you will find the step-by-step admissions process for both incoming freshwomen and transfer students.

Incoming Freshwomen

In the spirit of celebrating our all-girl environment, we refer to our 9th grade class as Freshwomen. Below is the admissions process for a current 8th grade student to complete enrollment at SJA:

STEP 1

Submit the 2017 - 2018 Application for Admission. Please be sure to include appropriate signatures, have the potential student complete the Admissions essay, and verify that the contact information from the student’s current school is accurate. Due to number of spaces available, applicants are encouraged to submit completed applications by Friday, December 2, 2016.

STEP 2

Upon review of the application, you will be contacted to schedule a personalized Admissions appointment in which the prospective student and your family are invited to the campus for a tour and to have an open conversation about what life at SJA can look like for your learner.

STEP 3

Following your admissions appointment and completion of the application, a formal transcript request will be sent to your student’s current school. Materials requested will include the following:

    • Guidance Counselor/8th Grade teacher questionnaire
    • IEP Information (if applicable)
    • Final 7th grade report card
    • 8th grade report cards
    • Most recent Standardized Test Scores

STEP 4

Once received, your student will register for a time to take our Placement Exam. Current 8th grade students take three exams: English, Spanish, and Math. These exams allow us to determine a student’s current academic ability and are not graded to determine eligibility for enrollment. Completion of all three exams takes about 1.5 hours. If your student has no experience in Spanish they will automatically be placed in Spanish 1.

  • A credit evaluation will take place once the application, transcripts, and placement exam are received. Shadow Visit days are offered throughout the school year and can allow your student to experience a day as an SJA student while they shadow a current SJA Ambassador.

STEP 5

Once the items mentioned above are completed, you will be contacted to complete your Enrollment Meeting with SJA Administration.

NOTE: Once your evaluation is complete, acceptance to SJA for the 2017 -2018 school year is granted; however, enrollment is contingent upon the completion of the Financial Aid/Scholarship Application.

Families are encouraged to apply for the Wisconsin/Milwaukee Parental Choice Program. This program is used to cover the cost of tuition and fees, and the application will be available for the 2017 – 2018 school year on Monday, February 6, 2017.

Transfer Students

We welcome students and families who wish to transfer to SJA as upperclasswomen. Because we provide a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum, we encourage interested families to begin the admissions process as soon as they are able. Below is the admissions process for students coming from 10th, 11th and 12th grades.

STEP 1

Submit the 2017 - 2018 Application for Admission. Please be sure to include appropriate signatures, have the potential student complete the Admissions essay, and verify that the contact information from your student’s current school is accurate.

To ensure your application materials are properly reviewed, we encourage you to supply the Admissions Office with any academic transcripts or records you have on hand to determine eligibility for your student.

STEP 2

Upon review of your application, we will contact you to schedule your personalized Admissions appointment in which your transfer student and your family are invited to the campus for a tour and to have an open conversation about what life at SJA can look like for your learner.

STEP 3

In addition to any documentation you may have, a formal request of student records will take place once your completed application and admissions essay is received. The following information will be included in this request:
